How To Stop Taking Life So Serious And Remain Childlike ( feat. my daughter Gianna Leigh ) - 04
What if healing, joy, and peace were found in becoming childlike again?
In this heartfelt and joy-filled episode of the Made For More Podcast, we sit down with my oldest daughter Gianna Leigh for one of the most genuine conversations and her keeping it real ( as always ) - unpacking what it truly means to have childlike faith in a world that constantly pushes us into pressure, fear, performance, and survival mode.
Together, we talk about innocence, trust, imagination, joy, laughter, forgiveness, and how children naturally carry the freedom adults often lose along the way. Through Gianna’s sweet perspective and my personal reflections, this episode serves as a reminder that God never asked us to carry the weight of the world alone.
If you’ve been overwhelmed, burned out, anxious, overthinking, or feeling disconnected from joy….. this episode will help bring you back to simplicity, presence, wonder, and trust in God again.

Miranda Leigh: Hey guys, welcome back. And I have a special guest with me today. One of my favorite people on this planet, my favorite six-year-old ever. My beautiful Gigi. And listen, okay, this message today came out of it is a perfect segue, also, just coming out of what we just talked about, you know, with all of the things with understanding identity and how to get rid of striving and how to honestly release all fear and pressure off of yourself and understanding exactly who you need to be in the world and in God. Guys, I thought this was the perfect episode to segue out of that into understanding what it is to be childlike. And I have the perfect person with me. That's so cool that you have gold dust on your hand already. Thank you, Lord. And ⁓ and Gigi's gonna share today some info about what it is to be childlike, right? So let's get into this because this is something that I feel like Holy Spirit gave me, and I think it is so impactful ⁓ on something that we can discuss about how to be childlike as adults. Okay. So I wanna know for you guys, have you ever noticed how children carry something that so many of us adults lose along the way? Joy without striving. Faith without overthinking, wonder without fear, love without conditions. Somewhere between growing up, responsibilities, heartbreak, pressure, pain, and survival mode, guys, many of us lose the softness and the trust and the freedom that we once carried as children. And I see that in my kids all the time, of just how free they are. And honestly, it inspires me. And this is exactly why I brought G on today to give some more context behind that. Because when Jesus talked about becoming like little children, I don't believe he was calling us to become immature. I believe he was inviting us back into trust, into wonder, humility, joy, and complete dependence on God. So, especially in today's world, guys, where there's so many people who are anxious, overwhelmed, exhausted, and emotionally heavy. I think that there's something so powerful about being able to slow down and to remember what it means to to see life through childlike faith again, right? Yeah. Yeah. And in today's episode, G is gonna bring some heat. I already know it, it's gonna be amazing. And ⁓ she is my favorite six year old, my favorite human. She made me a girl mama, which is so exciting. She is number two out of the four that we have. Yes. she's full of light, honesty, joy, love, and the kind of faith that reminds me of what it truly means to be like a kid and surrender and trust God's will, right? She shows me what truly matters in life, you know, and my prayers that this conversation doesn't just make you smile, but it actually softens your heart and reminds you that there is still light, there's still hope and there's still wonder and joy available to you too. Amen. So as I always like to begin. Leading us in. ⁓ actually, G, do you want to pray us in? Do you just want to invite Holy Spirit in? Not yet. Not yet. All right, I will. Holy Spirit, come. Lord, we just thank you, God, for this moment. We thank you for just the boldness and just the confidence that you bring to your kids listening to this message today. God, I thank you, God, that every single person that is here, God, needs they're here for a reason, God. And I pray that this message touches them. It softens them, God, and it encourages them to be more bold and to be the light in Jesus' mighty name. You think you got more gold dust? That's so cool. Do you get any? Do you guys not yet? I don't know. If Yep, you did. ⁓ we got gold dust. Praise God. That's Holy Spirit. Thank you, Lord. So we always want to give them the honor, right? And the glory through everything, right? Yeah. All right, amen. So guys, we're gonna go to Matthew 183. ⁓ and this is honestly what inspired this message today. And so we are reading, again. You can talk in a minute. Can I just talk about scripture and then we can go a little deeper? Sounds great. So Matthew 18, three guys, okay? Unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. What? Isn't that wild? So literally in scripture it states that we need to be like children. Because I think that it's, you know, one of these things that as adults we it's really easy for us to actually want to just continue to do all of the things. And again, like I talked to you guys about before, our never ending list of to do's. I'm kicking. And You know, I think that even just this combo right now with G, you know, is gonna give us space to just kind of pull back and to, you know, really lean into being like a kid, right? So G, the floor is yours. Are you ready? Yeah. Amazing, amazing. So Gianna, talking to mummy and talking to our friends, okay? But this is just between me, you and God right now, okay? So just answer freely, okay? So my question for you, G, is what do you think other people and you see them and they look sad you should say, Hey, do you wanna play with me? And like you could play and if they say yes you could play if they say no, it's okay. You could just tell the teacher if they want to ask them anything. Yeah, so that's like if you're at school and if a friend's sad and you wanna ask them if they wanna play, that's cool. So that makes you kind for asking, right? Is there anything else that you can think of? ⁓ That makes somebody kind? What do you think makes someone kind? Being kind which is being like friendly, being with God, you have to follow what he does and follow what he says for you to like understand what the tell him say like something nice to him or like That's really cool, you know. And you know, children naturally see people through love before judgment, and praise God for that, right? Adults can become so hardened by life that we stop leading with kindness first. And I think adults truly complicate happiness, right? Because children remind us that joy often lives in the simple things, right, guys? Yeah. Presence, laughter, communication in love, right? So gee, let me ask you what makes you Happiest? ⁓ praying and talking to my mom and going everywhere with her. ⁓ That makes me happiest too. So it's simple things, right? Yeah, and it makes me happy when I play with my brothers and sisters and when I be with my mom and dad and sister and playing outside and pretending like we don't know God but no we but for real life we actually know God and and yesterday we're me and Drake were play praying outside and we got a little bit of gold dust on us. Are you for real? That is so cool. So that makes you happiest whenever you and Drakey are not arguing. Yeah, when we're arguing it makes our parents like real mad. Yeah, real mad It's hard to parents. Yeah. We just gotta listen to whatever they say and that's really good. Follow God and not disobey not disobey. That's a good one. Yeah. So like again we don't wanna be on the enemy side. We just wanna be on God and Jesus' side by by following what they say and doing what they need. Yeah. So like keeping it simple, right? And just always coming back to the main thing, right? Yeah, but you always have to do what your parents say and not like disobey them. That's good. That's good. So gee, let me ask you. Do you think grown ups worry too much? ⁓ not really, but sometimes parents could be sad that their mom or dad died or So Yeah. Like how Vinny's in heaven and how Mama Stall's in heaven. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. That's that's hard. It makes me sad when they kinda die sometimes. Yeah, that makes me sad too. But do you think like grown up any like outside of mummy and daddy, do you think grown ups worry too much sometimes? Like do you think that sometimes we can act too grown up? What are you thinking? ⁓ I'm thinking sometimes you could be grown up, but even when You say mom, can I sit in the front front front seat? And if your parents say yes, then that means yes. If your parents say no, that means no. Yeah. Okay. Well that's like I just disobeyed my mom if be that I wanted to sit in the front seat. I think you want to grow up faster, huh? Yeah. Yeah, yeah, that's silly. So this answer guys will probably hit deep because children naturally trust things, trust like constantly that things are always gonna be okay, right? Adults carry pressure, fear and stress constantly. But childlike faith trusts us constantly. Childlike faith trusts God even without having all the answers. Here, let's leave this right here, okay? Okay. So, G, let me ask you. What do you think, what do you think God is like? ⁓ like the light. You think God's like the light? Yeah. Yeah? Here. You scooch up a little bit. So what okay, if you had to Here, look at mama. There you go. If you had to think about what God is like, like, can you describe him? ⁓ what is he like? Ooh. You think he's like an angel? Yeah. Like so do you think he's light? A lot or say big? ⁓ he's probably bigger than the enemy. ⁓ big facts, right? Yeah. Yeah. He's always bigger than the enemy. That's right. ⁓ If we have bad dreams, we could tell our and dad that we have bad dreams. Yeah. So just do what your parents say a lot. And yeah. That's good. But what do you hear, real quick. What do you think he's like though? Do you think he's kind? Do you think he's gentle? Do you think he's mean? Do you think he is a hard god? Or what kind of what do you think he's like? I think he's like nice and and ⁓ Safe, kind and responsible too. ⁓ wow. I think he's safe, kind of responsible too. That's good. Because guys, children don't over overcomplicate God the way that adults do, right? Their faith is simple, it's pure and it's trusting and honest, right? Which I love. I love it. It inspires me. So, gee, what do you do when you feel sad? I could tell my mom and dad what my sister did to me, like When she scratches me and when she bites me that hurts my feelings a lot. And when she boys be it hurts my feelings. Do you think Ellie bites you? She bit me before when I whenever she was teething when she was a baby. No. We got in that's so funny too because I really feel like you don't ever like you don't ever really get sad unless if it's you and Drake and Ellie argue, huh? And does that make your heart sad? Well when my makes me real sad, sad, sad, sad. It makes me cry too. But you know what we're human and crying's not a bad thing, right? Yeah, crying is okay if you cry. It is okay if you cry. Right? Because it shows that we're human. But crying also is a part of healing, right? Can I check with 10 minutes? Yeah. Right? And I think the biggest thing is so like what do you gee what do you do when you feel sad though? Like do you like to get a blankie? Do you like to snuggle up? Do you like to take a nap? Do you like a big hug? Like what do you do? ⁓ when you're sad. I like a big hug. I just go to my mom or that to give them a big hug. Yeah. Yeah. Because children process emotions honestly, right? Adults tend to suppress, avoid, numb, or carry everything internally. Just as G was talking about with, you know, mommy crying, right? It's because I'm happy that the Lord has healed me and redeemed me and restored me. But sometimes I'm human too and I cry because I'm overwhelmed with four kids and businesses and, you know, being a wife and Making these decisions in life, right? Because healing often begins when we allow ourselves to become honest again, right? And I think that's the biggest thing that like really allows for honesty to come to the forefront and letting God heal us, right? Letting Him heal us. And so when we feel sad, sometimes we might want to just get in bed and snuggle up. Mommy likes to just take a bath when I'm sad and get a hot cup of tea and just relax. Sometimes I go for a drive. Sometimes I like to worship. But do you like to do any of those things? Makes me sad sometimes. We miss Uncle Jay, huh? But he's back and we love him and I cannot wait to interview him and bring him on the podcast. Isn't that gonna be so fun? It's gonna be super fun. It's gonna be amazing. Like it's gonna be amazing when he first comes to like the talking. Yeah. I mean talking to all of us. Yeah. It's gonna be so fun. It's good to see everyone. I know. He's so great, right? Yeah. So G, real quick as we're going to the next as the next question, do you think that people forget how to have fun when they get older? Older? ⁓ sometimes. Yeah. What what do you think? ⁓ Do you think for pe that's just like right there. Do you think people forget how to have fun when they get older? Do you think that we get a little too serious? Sometimes yeah. So what does that look like? You think we get sometimes too serious that we forget to just be like a child and have fun? I know sometimes whenever mommy feels like I get too serious and then I look at you guys like jumping on the trampoline or I see you like running around, can you look at me whenever I'm speaking right here? Because this makes me so happy. I look at you and then I see that you can be barefoot running out in the grass and then I take my shoes off. I said, You know what? I'm done and I'm gonna run around in the grass with you and it allows for me to calm down and it remembers it reminds me to be like a kid. Like Gigi does, right? Yeah. Yeah. You wanna come this way? I just wanted to look at you 'cause I love you and I you inspire me. Do you know that? We're trying to improvise here in our home studio, guys. Anyways, I think many adults stop believing fully because life taught them that survival mode is better instead of wonder, right? But there's still a version of us that God wants to bring back to life again. Amen? Amen. Amen. That's good. So, gee, if you could tell adults anything in the world, what would it be? trying to get comfy on mommy's lap, huh? If you could tell adults anything, what would it be? ⁓ Jesus died on the cross. You keep talking about Jesus. That's so cool. I love Jesus. I love Jesus too. What do you love about Jesus? I know I see you. What do you love about Jesus? Do you know? ⁓ When he just talks to me. When he talks to you, I love that. That makes me so happy to hear. And when he talk talks to my mommy, I makes her really, really happy. It makes us real happy when he talks to us. Yeah. What do you think what does it sound like when he talks to you? Does it sound like a friend? Does it sound like a parent? What does it sound like? It sounds like a ⁓ Is it kind? Is it soft? Is it gentle? Is it loud? Scary. What does it sound like? It's kinda scary, but it's n soft and smooth. ⁓ it's kinda scary, but it's soft and smooth. Is it so kinda scary 'cause it's it's newer. Is it kinda scary 'cause it's like, ⁓ that doesn't sound like my mom or dad. What does it sound like? It sounds like God. ⁓ Okay. I love it. So gee, if you could tell adults one thing, it would be what, that Jesus died on the cross for them? Is there anything else that you would tell adults listening? Are there any words that are coming to you to inspire them? ⁓ You know what that means? Like do you want to encourage them with anything? Sometimes when I like to encourage people, I like to give them, you know, motivation like Jesus loves you and so do I. Or just keep going whenever moments are hard. What do you think? Are there anything is there anything that's popping up for you? It is like here. Can we finish our question? It is like what does it look like? If you could tell adults anybody one thing, what would it be? I love you. ⁓ I love that one. That's perfect. That's good. Yeah, this will become I guarantee you, one of those make me happy when when they talk to me a lot when I'm sad. Aw. That's great. That's great. We're extra snuggly today. I love that. This will probably become one of the most powerful moments, guys, of the episode. Truthfully, because when even G just said, I love you, it's like even if she doesn't know you, you know, she's called to love and she's called to be the light. And that's exactly what Jesus is called for us to do, right? And it speaks from purity, honesty, and simplicity, right? I love you, G. So let's talk about this. How to remain childlike in the world, right? Let's give some let's give our friends some some points to remember, right? Because I think that remaining childlike in today's world means protecting the softness around your heart without becoming hardened by life. It means trusting God again, allowing yourself to launch again, to dream again, right? Yeah. Slowing down enough to notice the beauty in the world. Like sometimes when I get so busy, I feel like I almost forget how beautiful it is to even see the flowers out in the grass or enjoying, you know, a nice sunny day, right? Yeah, a nice sunny day is like real hot. So you could wear a Tink Top. A t shirt. You could. Shorts or a skirt. You could. You could. Yeah. I think a lot of it's too is like forgiving quicker, loving deeper, dreaming bigger, and not letting pressure steal your peace. Being childlike doesn't mean avoiding responsibility, guys, but it means refusing to let the world rob you of faith, joy, tenderness, and trusting in God. I think so many adults are carrying versions of themselves that were built from survival instead of healing. That maybe God is calling us back to simplicity. Again, back to trust, back to peace, back to joy, and back to childlike faith. Right back to childlike faith. So as we're wrapping this up, guys, I think that one of the most beautiful things that children remind us is that we don't have to carry life as heavy as we do, right? Because there's still wonder available to us, there's still joy, there's still healing available to us. And no matter how much life has tried to harden you, there's still a softer, freer, more whole version of you waiting to come alive again. So thank you, G, for reminding us what truly matters. I love you. And thank you to everybody listening today, guys. Don't lose the childlike faith inside of you. We love you so much. And I just believe that healing is on the other side of this moment, but also just lean in to these moments because it's okay if it doesn't always look perfect. It's okay if it's messy, right? Yeah, it's okay if you don't finish and have enough time on your art project art project. On your art project, it's okay if you don't have time. Parents love everything. Yeah. And everything. And we love you guys. We truly do. We love you and thank you guys for ⁓ everything you did. I love when we have this moment together too, G. Snuggle Sash. And I love when we go to the park together. Yeah, I love when we go to the park too. ⁓ Well, guys, love you. And I pray that you were inspired by this episode. And even just moments like this, silly little episodes. You know what? I don't think that anything ⁓ is coincidence. think that there's so much joy that can come out of, you know, moments like this. And clearly it's been a healing journey ⁓ for all us. But we're so grateful that you guys ⁓ were here you're listening and ⁓ My little came on. Looks like we're ready for a nap. It's okay. We can go take a nap. They're gonna be snuggling. We'll snuggle there. So we will leave you guys with this. I just pray that you are feeling so overfilled right now, overjoyed with love and peace. And God just meets you right where you're at. And just remember, don't take it too serious today. Just to lean back in to being a child and trust the fact that God has something so beautiful in store for you in this season. We love you guys. Peace. Peace out. We'll talk to you soon. See you guys soon.
